What this site keeps · taittiriya.com

Reading needs no account. The little this site stores is there to review and correct the text, and it is never sold, shared or used for advertising.

पठनम् Reading the edition

Reading, searching, printing and downloading the PDFs need no account. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising.

Your browser remembers a few preferences on your own device: the script you chose, the text size, verse or paragraph layout, and where you last stopped reading. They are never sent to the site, and clearing your browser's data for taittiriya.com removes them.

Like any website, the host (Netlify) keeps standard request logs, which include IP addresses. Reading pages also load the Firebase library from Google, to show reviewer credits and let reviewers sign in, and pages with search load the search library from jsDelivr. These providers see each request as any web server would.

प्रवेशः Reviewer accounts

Accounts exist only for reviewers and editors, and I create each one personally. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (Google), which stores your email address, a protected form of your password and when you last signed in. I never see your password. Your browser keeps you signed in until you sign out.

समीक्षा Comments, voice notes and photos

A comment on the text is stored in Google's Firebase service with your name, your email address and the passage it refers to. Voice recordings and photos you attach are stored with it.

Comments and attachments are visible only to signed-in reviewers and editors, never to the public. When a suggested correction is accepted, the corrected reading becomes part of the published text and its PDFs.

प्रकाशितम् What is public

निवेदनम् The “become a reviewer” form

The form asks for your name, email address, optionally a phone number, how you would like to help, and a little about your background. Netlify Forms receives it and emails it to me. It is used only to get in touch about contributing and is never added to a mailing list.

That page also embeds a YouTube video in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube receives a request when the player loads.

रक्षणम् Backups, removal and contact

Everything above is backed up nightly to a private repository, so that reviewers' work cannot be lost.

To see, correct or remove what is stored about you (your account, comments, recordings, photos, profile or form submission), write to me at iamsridhar@gmail.com. I will remove it from the site; copies may remain in older private backups, which are never published. Questions about this page are welcome at the same address.
